The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) signed a $7 million coordination contract with the Japanese government, represented by Crown Agents. The grant will be distributed between the Ministry of Public Health and MoEHE.

The project will equip 160 public schools that accept Lebanese and Syrian students, with power generators, mobile bathrooms, tables and desks. The funds will also provide schools in rural areas with gasoil to operate the generators for one year.

Minister of Education Elias Abou Saab, said: “This agreement will support the education sector to a large extent, and will create appropriate conditions for local and Syrian students.”
