Also known as Qal’at al Chkif, Beaufort Castle in the Nabatiyeh Governorate, will reopen to the public on Sunday. It was closed for renovations in August 2010.

The revamp of the Crusader fortress was funded by a $2 million grant from the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) and by $1.3 million secured by the Council for Development & Reconstruction (CDR), said Ali Khalifeh an engineer with KFAED.

He said that the monument will be added to the list of archeological sites under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture.
