The Council of Ministers approved an $8 million grant by the European Union to help local economies recover from the influx of the Syrian refugees.

The seven-year recovery program will focus on the agriculture sector as the main source of job creation and income generation. The funds will be used to train locals to become agricultural guides and increase interaction between farmers and guides. The grant will target the North and Bekaa mainly.

The Council for Development and Reconstruction Economic and Social Fund for Development (ESFD) will carry out the project, which is part of the European Neighborhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI).
