The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has initially approved health coverage for employers, according to Rafic Salameh, member of the board. He said: “The board is ready to check the feasibility of providing employers with NSSF services.”

Salameh said that once issued, the decision will be mandatory for all employers, so it is very essential to take the opinion of employers.

The Beirut Traders Association (BTA) prepared this project and presented it to the Ministry of Labor, a few months ago. The ministry approved the project and referred it to NSSF. Nicolas Chammas, Chairman of BTA, said: “All employers are ready to subscribe for NSSF coverage.”

The parties that could benefit from this decision are traders in the commercial register, trade company owners, general managers, who are officially responsible before the law in a Lebanese Joint Stock Company (SAL), chairmen and general managers in Limited Liability Companies (SARL), partners in Partnership and Limited Partnership By Shares.

These companies should be members of BTA and should be paying all their financial dues. These categories will be benefiting from maternity and sickness reimbursement. They can benefit from NSSF services even after they are retired, or after they close their company, or sell it.
