Flexible Packaging Industries (FPI), a local manufacturer of nylon and aluminum products for packaging, will expand its factory in Halat, Jbeil. Construction works will be finalized in late 2015.

Farid Daccache, General Manager, said: “We will be increasing the production capacity of the factory to penetrate new markets.”

The $1.5 million investment will increase the total built-up area of the factory from 1,500 to 6,500 square meters. It will also create 20 jobs.

The expansion will increase the production capacity from 120 tons to 350 tons, per month. The factory will achieve the ISO 9001 certification for quality management principles.

FPI makes nylon packaging for nuts, grains, spices and potato chips companies such as Master Chips. It exports around 35 percent of its production to Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Libya and Sudan.

“We are working on penetrating new markets especially since our products comply with European standards,” said Daccache.
