Ahmad Mohamad Sleiman Al Dirani & Bros Factory, a local manufacturer of agro-industrial foods, has launched a new project in Ablah, Hermel, which will begin production this summer.

The project consists of 150,000 square meters, of which 50,000 m2 will be leased from farmers, according to Ahmad Dirani, major shareholder and General Manager. The project will create jobs for 400 farmers.

The cost of investment is $3 million, which included the cost of reclamation, seeds, and cultivation.

The company will cultivate peas, okra, fava beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, broccoli, cornflower, bell pepper, molokhia plant, among others. Part of the project is dedicated for organic agriculture, due to increasing demand, according to Dirani. He said that international standards will be applied for organic cultivation.

The total production is expected to reach $3 million per year. “We aim to export nearly all production to the Gulf countries,” said Dirani. The oversupply will be utilized in the factory.

The factory markets its products under several brand names including ‘Gold Garden’ and ‘Mouliki’. Most of the company’s production, which exceeds 10,000 tons of packed fresh vegetables, is exported to the Arab countries.

Dirani said that there are plans to expand the factory in the future by 90,000 m2.
