Excavation works began this month on the Koura Mall shopping center, which is slated to open in late 2016.

Located in the Kfarhazir region, the mall will target customers from Zgharta, Koura, and Bechari. “The area lacks such concepts,” said owner, George Abdallah, of GA Properties.

The mall is being built on a 5,400 square meter plot. It has four above-ground floors dedicated to retail spaces and one underground floor for warehouses and parking. The overall built-up area is around 5,000 m2. The mall is surrounded by a 3,700 m2 visitor parking. Investment in the project is $3 million, including the land cost.

Koura Mall will have the capacity for 47 retail outlets. “We are currently discussing with Carrefour, the international supermarket chain, the potential of its being the anchor store, as it is looking to be established in the North. It might occupy two floors,” Abdallah said. Burger King is also a potential tenant.

Abdallah said that outlets are available both for sale and for lease. Selling prices start at $80,000 for a 40 m2 space.
