The Lebanese wing opened today at Expo Milano, Italy, which is a global event, held once every five years and ends in October 31.

The theme of Expo Milano this year is ‘Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life’. The theme of the Lebanese wing is ‘Cuisine: Lebanese Art and Soul’.

The Lebanese wing displays mainly cuisine and food industrial products. Visitors can taste and try local foods, such as wine, olive oil, canned food, mainly hommos, halawe, among others. Visitors who are interested in Lebanese products are able to communicate with the local companies online.

Patrick Hayek, Vice Chairman of the Lebanese-Italian Business Council, said: “The expo will be a good promotion for Lebanese restaurants that are present in various European countries.” He said that many Syrians and Turkish people are opening Lebanese themed restaurants in Europe.

Art shows, educational activities, will be conducted on a regular basis, in cooperation with local artists to attract visitors to the wing.

The Ministry of Economy and Trade (MoET) organized the participation of Lebanon in the expo, which will be held over a period of six months. The wing will have a space of 125 square meters. More than 20 million visitors are expected to attend the expo. It will encourage interaction between local artisans and visitors who can watch the production processes. Expo Milano will also host wings from Europe, Africa, and Asia.

MoET said that the expo is an essential opportunity to introduce the Lebanese cuisine. It will help food industrial products enter European markets, especially since several Customs facilities will offered for companies participating in the conference during the expo.
