Ziad Elias Zeidan, General Manager of Libanlait, said that the farm will be expanded gradually within two years, to increase the number of cows by 1,000 heads to 4,000. He said that the reason behind the expansion is to meet the increasing demand for dairy products in the local market.

The total space of the land plot, which includes the farm and the factory, is 500,000 square meters. Investment in the project is estimated at around $2 million.

Zeidan said that the expansion will increase the monthly production of the farm by 25 percent, to 2,250 tons.

Libanlait used to export around 280 tons of dairy products per month to Syria, Iraq, and Jordan. But according to Zeidan, exports have stopped, due to the closure of the Syria-Jordan border crossings.

Libanlait produces dairy products locally under two brand names, Libanlait and the French franchise, Candia.
