Grant of $150 million for schooling of Syrian students
Around $150 million have been granted to help manage the education of 200,000 Syrian refugee students in the coming year. The announcement came during the Education in Emergencies summit in Oslo, which dealt with the issues of children affected by emergency cases and crises. The Ministry of Education and Higher Education said that these funds will be provided by the United Nations, donor countries, and specialized international organizations.
The ministry will receive the grant to implement the Reaching of all Children with Education (RACE) plan, a project to provide education to Syrian refugees and Lebanese students from vulnerable communities.
The ministry will use the funds to pay for teachers contracted for morning and afternoon schedules. It will also use the funds to maintain the public schools that are hosting refugees.
