Iran has exempted seven countries, including Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Turkey, Georgia, Bolivia, and Azerbaijan, from entry permits, in a plan to boost its local tourism.

“Lebanese tourists will be granted their pass at the airport upon arrival, without the need for any visas,” said Mohammad Herchi, the spokesperson at the Consul office of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Beirut.

According to Rouchdi Mansour, Secretary of the Media department at the General Security, Lebanon will reciprocated, applying the same regulation toward Iranian visitors.

Jean Abboud, Presient of the Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (ATTAL) said: “Before this agreement, Acquiring a visa to Iran entailed more complicated procedures.”

Around 1,000 Lebanese tourists visit Iran per year, especially in the holy months, according to Abboud. Iranians visit Lebanon in greater numbers. According to figures published by the Ministry of Tourism, out of 113,500 Asian tourists visiting the country in 2014, 15,500 were Iranian. “We believe that the agreement will grant us additional visits, especially within the latest political settlement with the country,” Abboud said.
