International Co. For Manufacturing Foods (IFCO) will expand its factory in Kib Elias, Bekaa, in late 2015.

The $1 million project will increase production capacity from 1,500 boxes of canned foods to 5,000 boxes per day.

The IFCO factory will have a total built-up area of 6,000 square meters. Stephan Adham, General Manager, said that the company used to operate in 20 percent of the factory’s space. The expansion will create more than ten full time jobs.

The factory produces a wide range of canned foods, including hummus, beans, jam, pixels, and tahini. Adham said that around 80 percent of the production is exported to Europe, the United States, Australia, as well as some Arab countries.
