Trappistes, a manufacturer of dairy products, jams, and wines, will open a factory for dairy products in Dlibta, Keserwan. Construction works on the factory have been finalized and operations will start once the machines have been installed.

Joseph Fahed, General Manager, said: “We still require some funds to purchase and install the machines that will be imported from France.”

The $1 million project will have a built-up area of 300 square meters. The factory will create around ten full time jobs.

The production capacity of the factory will be two tons of milk per day. The total number of milk manufactured by local factories daily is between 200 and 250 tons, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.

Trappistes owns a farm for cows that produce around 500 liters of milk per day. Fahed said that the company will purchase milk from neighboring farms. The factory will also produce yogurt, labneh, and white cheese. Fahed said that the company has plans to produce European cheeses in the future.

The entire production will be distributed locally. Fahed said that the company will start exporting once it starts producing yellow cheese.
