The restoration and development of a fishing port in Dora is underway, according to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.

The main contractor is local MAR Contracting and the design and supervision is by local firm Seatec. The value of the restoration works is $13 million.

The port will have 1,250 meters of quay walls with a depth of 2.5 meters. The berth will have a capacity of 650 boats and will have two slipways.

“The port will have 52,000 square meters of asphalted platforms for boat maintenance and parking,” said Patrick Sleiman, General Manager of Seatec.

“A 760 m2 fish market will be erected next to a 200 m2 building for the syndicate of fishermen with 60 rooms,” he said. Lighting and water supply networks are also being developed.

The project’s completion is expected in the middle of next year.
