The Lebanese American University (LAU) acquired two buildings for the School of Architecture and Design, adjacent to the campus in Kraytem. Construction works for renovating the buildings will start in the coming spring and will be finalized in the summer of 2017.

The two buildings will have a total built-up area of 17,000 square meters. The first building will comprise five floors and the second eight floors, in addition to an underground parking garage for 100 cars. The buildings will include laboratories, workshops, lecture halls, and offices.

The cost of renovation is estimated at $15 million.

“The new project will be able to accept around 500 students,” said Georges Hamouche, Assistant Vice President for Faculties Management at LAU.

LAU is also in the process of renovating two existing theaters on the Beirut campus, including their infrastructure, equipment, lighting, sound systems, and seats.

Investment in this project is estimated at $3 million. Renovation will be finalized in early 2017.
