UN downgrades government's e-services
Lebanon loses 17 positions on the e-participation index

The survey also evaluates how the government promotes the e-services to citizens and the extent it allows them to participate in decision-making; it studies 21 informative services in the health, social, economic, finance, and employment fields- for this purpose.

Lebanon has lost 17 positions in 2010; it ranked in 45th place among 179 global countries, down from the 28th place in 2008. It scored 0.2714 points, down 34 percent from 2008.

Globally, Lebanon came behind Brazil, Egypt and Jordan and ahead of Greece, Ukraine and Uruguay.

Regionally, Lebanon was one of 11 countries that lost positions on the index; it came in sixth place among MENA countries in 2010, down from the second place in the 2008 study.

It came below Bahrain, Tunisia, Jordan, Egypt, but still surpassed Kuwait, Turkey, Libya and Oman.
Syria and Algeria have the poorest e-participation services, according to the survey which ranked them in the 18th place among MENA countries.
