Sanita, a member of Indevco Group and a manufacturer of household, institutional, and personal care products, will open in April a factory for the production of paper cups, under the brand name of ‘Sanita Club’. The factory will be located in the industrial zone of Hosrayel, Jbeil, of which around 1,500 square meters (m2) will be dedicated for the new facility. Investment is more than $3 million.

Chadi Kreidy, General Manager of the ‘Away from Home’ business at Sanita, said: “Demand for paper cups is growing, because drinking hot water from plastic has proven to be unhealthy.” He said that the paper cups currently on the market are mainly imported from China.

According to Kreidy, negotiations are still underway with German and Korean companies regarding the import of fully automated machines. The facility’s manufacturing room will be isolated in accordance with to abide by health and safety standards, since the products are for beverage use.

Production rates in the first year will be 30 tons of paper cups per month. But this is expected to reach one hundred tons per month after a few years, according to Kreidy. The entire production will be distributed locally.

The factory will create at least ten full time jobs.
