The British Embassy in Lebanon allocated £2.5 million ($3.1 million) to build an international research center located at the UK Lebanon Tech Hub.

British Ambassador Hugo Shorter said: “The project will support cooperation between Lebanese universities, the technology sector and British universities.”

He said that the center aims to cooperate with international institutions to conduct research and develop new solutions in the technology sector.

The center will implement the first project in cooperation with the Lebanese University and the European Organization for Nuclear Research CERN. The project aims to produce a fiber-optic sensor system to measure temperature, humidity, and test fertilizers and pesticides in soil. The project will support the farmers through increasing production and lowering the cost of irrigation and production.
