Many Food, an agent for a number of imported brands including Lay’s, Doritos, and Cheetos, will open Confexia, a confectionary factory, next month in Hadath.

Confexia will produce chocolates and wafers under the brand names ‘Twins’, ‘Joe’, and ‘Wonder Berry’. It will produce chocolate in bulk and under private labels.

Many Food, owned by entrepreneur Adel Abi Chaker, acquired a company owned by Ahmad Ismail and Wael Halawi who used to produce Joe and Twins in a small factory in Ain El Remmaneh.

The total built up area of the new factory is 1,700 square meters. The automated machines required for the factory were imported from Europe.

Investment in the factory will reach $5.5 million when completed.

The production capacity is eight tons per shift (eight hours). Ahmad Ismail, Plant Manager, said that this capacity is considered high compared to factories in the local and regional market. The company is working one-and-a-quarter shifts daily. “Amounts produced will increase once we launch new brands,” he said.

Many Food will be handling the product distribution. The company already exports part of the production to Jordan, Iraq, and Libya. “We aim to export half the product, and we are targeting Europe, mainly Germany,” said Ismail.
