The Business Incubation Association in Tripoli (BIAT) is preparing a project to help revitalize the furniture industry in the city.

The scheme will consist of two parts, the creation of an online platform for the furniture sector and training for people working in the sector.

The project is funded by the European Union and has been subcontracted by Expertise France to BIAT which will implement it. It is part of a broader program to support development projects in Lebanon. Expertise France is a French international technical assistance agency launched in 2015 following a merger of existing agencies.

BIAT is currently gathering data to create an online platform that is expected to be launched in March 2018. It will consist of a database that will comprise information related to the furniture sector in addition to a directory of furniture businesses in Tripoli. The platform will connect the different players in the furniture sector.

The second part of the project will involve providing coaching services as well as business and technical training. The first training sessions are expected to start from next month onwards.

People who entered the furniture business forty or fifty years ago will be able to learn new techniques which will enable them to follow current market trends in the furniture business.

BIAT provides hosting, incubation, and business consulting services. It also helps businesses to gain access to capital. BIAT is affiliated to the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Tripoli.
