The Kuwaiti Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) has agreed to finance a road linking Jeita Square to Faraya, for $60 million.

Antoun Souaid, advisor for Engineering Affairs to the President of the Republic, said: “The 23-kilometer road will be expanded and the entrances of major villages will be rehabilitated.” These cities will include Achkout, Ballouneh, Suheileh, and Ajaltoun.

The Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD) had already agreed to finance the road restoration between Zouk Mosbeh (Yasouh el Malak area) and Jeita Square.

Works will start within one and a half years, Nabil Jisr, Chairman of the Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR), said.

More than 40,000 vehicles use the road every day, according to Souaid.
