A number of local institutions and individuals, architects, artists and researchers will participate in the 16th Biennale of Architecture exhibition, to be held in Venice, Italy in May. This is the first time local artists participate.

Under the theme: ‘The place that remains’, the ‘Lebanese Pavilion’ at the exhibition has been drafted by Hala Younes, Assistant Professor of Architecture at the Lebanese American University (LAU).

This project has been drafted with the support of the Department of Urbanism at the Lebanese University, the School of Architecture and Design at the LAU, the Arab Center for Architecture, and the Lebanese Landscape Association.

The project has also received the active contribution of the Department of Geography at Saint Joseph University and the Directorate of Geographic Affairs of the Army in order to create a giant 3D territorial model.

The Pavilion will also feature the work of six photographers, selected by the curator, Younes, and professors from Notre Dame University, the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts (ALBA), and the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik.

Historical photographs will also be on display, and have been gathered from different collections such as the Association Pour la Protection des Sites et Anciennes Demeures au Liban (APSAD), and the Fouad Debbas collection, the “La Photothèque de la Bibliothèque Orientale.”

The Pavilion is financed by several institutional and private funders, including LAU.
