Around150,000 to 180,000 farmers from all around Lebanon will be surveyed on their crops, and the problems they face in their daily work.

A group of surveyors will be trained and provided with enough skills to undertake the task, and complete the survey by October, the Minister said.

The survey is part of a series of technical and administrative steps the Ministry plans to carry out to set new agricultural strategies and policies.

The last similar survey “was carried out ten years ago in the 1998-1999 time period, and that old information cannot serve us today in putting a contemporary strategy for the sector,” said the Minister.

The project is financed by the Italian government and the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
