Social Enterprise Cluster (SEC), a recently established company, opened early this year a factory that produces packed hummus snacks with bread sticks under the brand name ‘HUM'N GO’, in Aintoura, Keserwan.

Entrepreneurs Samer Sfeir, Elie Matta and Chantal Saadeh spent more than one year developing their product and expanding its shelf life to four months. “We were the first to pack hummus with bread sticks in a plastic cup,” Sfeir said.

The partners invested around $700,000 in the central kitchen and packaging equipment. The company developed its own mold to produce the plastic cups, and has a production capacity of 50,000 packs per month.

Social Enterprise Cluster is negotiating with an industrial food production factory in Zahle to partner in producing HUM'N GO in their facilities.

The product, which is available in two flavors, is currently distributed to several movie theaters, including Grand Cinemas and Le Mall, as well as in Medco Medmart, and IPT minimarkets. “We are still searching for the right partners,” Sfeir said.

SEC plans to export its products to Gulf countries. “We participated in the Gulf Food exhibition this month, and negotiated with several parties for distribution,” Sfeir said.

The company has created six job opportunities, and is looking to make a positive impact. “The central kitchen is prepared to employ disabled people,” Sfeir said.
