US government offers aid for water sector
The assistance package is worth $27.5 million

Funding will be available through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and projects will be executed by US agencies in close coordination with the Ministry.

The USAID will provide $19.5 million to improve the management, operations and services of local water establishments. The program which will be implemented by the Development Alternatives Incorporated (DAI) will introduce new areas of assistance in staff capacity building and capital investment planning.

Another $8 million funding aid will be allocated to the Litani River Authority (LRA) to finance the Litani River Basin Management Support program.

US Ambassador to Lebanon, Michele J. Sison said that “the ongoing cooperation between the two countries in developing water management capacity in Lebanon will result in long-term benefits for citizens and for the generations to come.”
