The inspection campaign comes two days after the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said that the Kellogg’s Company would recall about 28 million breakfast cereal packs from the US markets, after they got contaminated by a leaking chemical substance that has decayed the cereals, causing a bad smell and taste.

The Department said that it has been notified by local importers that the largest portion of the four cereals: Froot Loops, Honey Snacks, Corn Pops, and Apple Jacks, are imported from the UK, thus are unaffected by the contamination.

However, portions imported from the USA, would be confiscated at warehouses until a sample would be sent to laboratories for testing and examination.

The Department urged citizens to report any susceptible cases by calling its hotline: 1739.
