5G fixed wireless service at Beirut airport

OGERO Telecom has carried out a soft launch of its planned 5G fixed wireless service at Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport, said Imad Kreidieh, Director General of OGERO.

The 5G connection is now in operation and the official commercial launch will take place on September 26, he said.

Minister of Telecommunications Mohamad Choucair said last June that they were working with international companies to test the 5G service and assess its potential efficiency.

OGERO has succeeded in boosting the number of subscribers by 11 percent by July 2019 compared with a year earlier, according to Kreidieh.

“This has impacted our revenues which have increased 20 percent year-on-year especially as we are developing the infrastructure,” he said.
