In its recommendation letter, the Board has encouraged setting up new sectoral syndicates and unions, stressing the need to support and assist sectors facing competition from imports saturating the markets, and from smuggled products, especially the clothing, spinning and weaving industries.

The Board  called on the “Council for Exports Development”, to activate its role in completing marketing studies, and in tightening its ties with Lebanese Embassies outside, and with the Ministries of Economy and Trade, and Agriculture.

The letter of recommendation suggested establishing a databank for exports, organizing industrial exhibitions, and arranging the participation of national companies in international fairs. It also encouraged the establishment of duty free export zones, and the recovery of fees calculated in production, providing full support for the energy- self sufficiency project.

Industrial exports increased 29 percent to $1.45 billion in the first five months of 2010, according to figures released by the Ministry of Industry,  led by exports of machinery and mechanical appliances which reached $286 million.
