The Association of Banks (ABL) said it will call all banks operating in Lebanon to reopen on Tuesday and resume their regular operations.

ABL’s move comes after the Federation of Syndicates of Banks Employees announced its decision to end the strike that has lasted for nearly one week. The federation said it took this decision after it was informed of the plan of the Internal Security Forces to protect bank employees.

The employees had decided to strike after some of them were attacked by some customers due to restrictions imposed by banks on money withdrawals.

Georges El Hajj Chairman of the Bank Employee Syndicate said that thanks to the security plan there is no reason to go on with the strike.
