The TRA will be examining the issue from all technical, economical, financial and legal sides, Hoballah said, adding that the Authority has opened the subject with top officials, including ministries and other executives.

By far, Lebanon has become the latest country to raise concerns over the Blackberry use after the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and India.

The countries are asking that RIM unveils its secret encryption code, so authorities can monitor messages people receive on their devices, an inquiry the company has been declining so far.

Hoballah did not unveil whether the Authority is planning to halt the use of the Blackberry in the country, similar to the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

BlackBerry services, out of which is the popular instant-messaging service, would be suspended in Saudi Arabia starting Friday, said the Saudi Telecom Authority, while the service would be stopped starting October in the UAE.
