Jean Ogassapian, Minister of State, discussed the issue with the Syrian Minister of Finance, Mohamad Al-Hussein, proposing a sweeping strategic plan to revamp all the five- existing cross-borders between the two countries.

In addition to setting up this center, which will only be limited to trucks-transport, Lebanon has proposed designating the current center at the Masna’a border crossing in the Bekaa region, to the passage of trucks, and building a new center at a nearby location that would be following up on the flow of goods and touristic cars.

Lebanon has also proposed transforming the existing center at the Abboudieh crossing to a center for the passage of cars and people, developing the Kobai’a crossing, and transforming the Ka’a crossing to a pilot center, designated for the passage of both: trucks and cars.

Workgroups from both countries would meet to follow up on the plans, said a statement from the office of Minister Ogassapian.
