Murr Television, (MTV), will launch an app that involves a number of applications for smart phones, said Jihad Murr, Chief Operating Officer, (COO) of MTV. The app will have several versions, the first of which is scheduled for launch on February 15, and it will incorporate a variety of derivative features. Those will include a news website, the ability to watch live MTV programs as well as back-dated programs, he said. The app will be offered for free and will be available to anyone with a smart phone anywhere in the world. “It will be the first in the region, and perhaps in the world,” said Murr. The app was developed by Eurisko Mobility at the cost of some $100,000. “Part of it was paid in cash while the rest in a barter deal that involved advertising slots,” said Murr. Ziad Tawk, chief of Research and Development, (R&D), at Eurisko Mobility, said that “MTV came up with the concept and we worked on it to make it a reality.” “The app will propel MTV to the position of leadership throughout the region in terms of news broadcasting,” he said.

Editor's note: We received a letter from Eurisko Mobility indicating that they proposed the concept to MTV, which approved it, and introduced a number of additions to it, "that elevated the whole app to a new level."
