The secretary general of the General Confederation of the Labor Unions, (GCLU), Ghassan Ghosn, declared that the Unions of Land Transport, (ULT), will meet next Monday in an extraordinary session in order to decide on the strike that is scheduled for February 10. He made his statement after meeting with the Prime Minster designate Najib Mikati today. Ghosn said that Mikati told him that “the demands of the GCLU and of ULT will be among the priorities of the awaited government.” Mikati appealed to us to reconsider the strike, said Bassam Tleis, the head of the Lebanese Federation of Land Transport Unions, (LFLTU), who accompanied Ghosn. He wants us to give his awaited cabinet a chance, he said.  Ghosn said that the executive committee of the GCLU held a meeting and urged the coming government to establish a variable scale for wages that accounts for inflation.
