Alfa releases 3G plans
Service coverage starts with Beirut, to expand to all areas within few months

 Alfa Telecom has unveiled its plans for offering the 3G mobile phone technology for its subscribers.The company said that its 3G coverage will be initially available to users in Greater Beirut, the majority of Mount Lebanon, and in the Northern coastal area up to Akkar. It said that a nationwide coverage will gradually be in place in the coming few months. Alfa is offering five fixed price packages:

Alfa said that it is offering a ‘Pay As You Go – PAYG’ service for its users. The service allows users to access the internet on their handsets without the need to subscribe to any of the monthly data plans at the rate of $0.5/MB.
MTC Touch has earlier said that it will release its 3G plans on November 1st.
Both mobile operators said that they will release dongles which customers can purchase to get the 3G technology on their personal computers.
MTC said that its service will cover Beirut, Saida, Tripoli, and Zahleh. The coverage will be expanded gradually. MTC subscribers could get the new service through direct subscriptions on their lines. They could also purchase data-only SIM cards to access the new technology.
