The Port of Tripoli Authority, affiliated with the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation, launched a tender for a Build Operate and Transfer (BOT) management contract for cargo handling, civil works, and all other facilities at the port.

The company assigned through the tender will finance, design, procure, build, operate, and maintain civil works and buildings at the Tripoli port for 25 years. At the end of the contract, the company will transfer the facilities to the Port of Tripoli Authority. The tender closes on May 9.

The Port of Tripoli Authority also called for another tender for the construction of the infrastructure of the port. The construction works include building an administrative building, warehouses, a fire station, control rooms, a water reservoir and a pump station, a generator plant, and four electrical substations.

The project also includes the construction of flexible asphalt pavements. Infrastructures to be built include networks for water distribution, wastewater collection, storm water drainage, and irrigation. The tender closes on May 23.

The Port of Tripoli witnessed in early February the completion of the second phase of a major expansion plan.
The director of Tripoli Port Authority, Ahmad Tamer, had earlier said that the construction of the infrastructure required for finalizing the port’s enhancement is expected to take up to two years.
