Local nuts manufacturer, Diabco is planning to expand its factory in Koura. Diabco’s products are marketed under ‘Al Amira’ brand.

Tony Diab, General Manager at Diabco said the expansion aims to raise the production capacity. The company will invest some $1.5 million in the project.

Upon the project’s completion, the factory will be covering an area of 6,000 square meters. “The factory will also have new machines, imported from Italy,” said Diab. The expanded factory will be operational in 2015.

Diab said the local demand for nuts products is already fulfilled. He said the additional output, after the expansion, will be exported: “We will first export into markets that we already serve, and we plan to tap new markets in Africa, Europe, and Australia.” Diabco exports around 50 percent of its production to markets in Arab countries, mainly the Gulf, Europe, and America.
