The Ministry of Youth and Sports launched works to execute the second part of the Emile Lahoud Olympic Pool in Dbayeh. The facility will include a gym and dorms for athletes.

Nabil Majed, Media Coordinator at the Ministry, said: “The pool will be ready to host swimming competitions in one year.” However the construction of the whole project will not be completed before 2015.

The indoor pool will be 50 meters long with a width ranging between 20 and 50 meters. It will also have the appropriate depth for diving training.

The Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR) will undertake the supervision and execution of construction works. The facility will be managed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The pool’s construction began in 2002 with a budget of around $7 million. Last year, the Cabinet allocated another $10 million in order to complete works.
