The Rafic Hariri International Airport (RHIA) has launched three bids for companies interested in offering car rental, banking, and insurance services at the airport.

The first bid, to be opened on July 1, intends to appoint nine firms for operating car rental counters at the airport premises. “Car rental counters must be run by different companies,” said Fadi El Hassan, Director of Facilities Maintenance Unit at the RHIA.

Seven different companies currently run car rental counters at the RHIA, including Catrans, AVIS, and Lenacar. “The value of investment per counter was set at $43,000 per year in the last tender,” said El Hassan. The contract with the winning bidders serves for three years. The sum paid for managing a counter is subject to change with each mandate.

Another bid to operate three bank branches with ATMs is scheduled for July 9. “The three bank counters should all be operated by one bank for a period of four years,” El Hassan said. Banking services within the RHIA are currently offered by BankMed. The value of the contract is around $800,000 per year.

The bid for the insurance services provider at the RHIA is slated for July 11. Libano Suisse is currently operating the insurance counter at the airport. The investment contract is for three years and the contract value last stood at $33,000 per year.
