Fransabank announced the launch of the SIMBA app, an electronic payment gateway. The service came as the result of an agreement signed between Fransabank and Viamobile, a mobile money service provider in the Middle East.

‘SIMBA’ offers a variety of features. It enables users to send and receive money and to recharge prepaid mobile lines. Users can also pay their park-meter fines, deposit wedding list contributions at Khoury Home, and renew their Internet subscriptions with Cyberia.

“The deal with Fansabank marked the debut of SIMBA, in time we will have similar deals with more banks,” said Karim Khoury, CEO of Viamobile. He said a deal with Al Mawarid bank has already been signed.

SIMBA was developed by Viamobile in partnership with French mobile financial solutions creator CREOVA. The app had also received incubation assistance from Berytech.

The app can be downloaded on mobile devices for free but will only work if users have an account at Fransabank for now. According to Khoury the app had 800 downloads in one week, even before it was launched. “We are aiming for 8,500 downloads within three to four months,” he said.
