The Syndicate of Public Truck Owners announced an open strike today to protest against the Port of Beirut’s delay in satisfying their logistic demands.

The Syndicate has asked port officials to return a parking space for trucks, improve the working schedule, and better organize loading and unloading procedures.

Naim Sawaya, Head of the Syndicate, had met earlier with the Head of the Syndicate of Licensed Clearing Agents in Lebanon, Ghassan Soubra. The two syndicates will meet with the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation to discuss possible measures to end the strike.

Soubra said: “If our demands remain unanswered, we will call on other syndicates to join the strike.”
