A twinning agreement was signed this week between the Tyre municipality and Novorossiysk, Russia to foster business, cultural, and social exchanges.

Salah Sabrawi, Vice president of the Tyre municipality, said: “The agreement consists of exchanging projects and experiences in the administration section.” It will promote economic relations, urban planning, and the historical heritage. “Novorossiysk has the same shape as Tyre and this will help us in developing the city’s infrastructure fast,” he said.

The agreement will also aim to develop activities in the organization of public spaces. It also includes building a public garden and other issues related to the environment, and technical assistance.

The cities will look for cooperation regarding education, tourism and exchanging delegations from civil society. “We expect a visit from our twin city in spring. This visit will result in supporting us financially,” said Sabrawi.
