A bazaar is being planned for the city of Batroun. The project is being carried out by the Batroun Traders Association. It is in the research and study phase. It will be implemented with support from the Batroun Municipality, the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation, the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture of Tripoli and North Lebanon, and the Business Incubation Association in Tripoli (BIAT).

Effective works will start mid-April, said Rock Attieh, Chairman of the Batroun Traders Association. The project will be completed within two months.

Marcelino El Harek, Batroun’s mayor, said that the new bazaar will be part the city’s public garden. It will occupy a space of 2,000 square meters, out of the overall 10,000 square meters space. “The Municipality along with the Ministry of Public Works will provide the project with essential location preparation, infrastructure, and several other details related to execution,” he said.

“BIAT is helping us with the preparation of the feasibility study in order to convince investors about the worth of the project,” said Attieh.

The bazaar will include retail shops (clothing, groceries, artisanal works, and food, and others.) It will open each Sunday throughout the year.

The cost of the project is $100,000. It will be partially financed by the Municipality, the Union of Batroun Municipalities, and private investors and sponsors.
