The USAID signed memorandums of understanding with the four regional water establishments (Bekaa, North, Beirut and Mount Lebanon, and South) to improve their financial and managerial performance and support their sustainability.
The MoUs define a framework for cooperation between the USAID-funded Water Infrastructure Support and Enhancement for Lebanon (WISE-Lebanon) program and each of the water establishments.
WISE-Lebanon is a $26.2 million grant provided by USAID to enhance Lebanon’s water resource management through water infrastructure upgrades and related management support.
US Ambassador David Hale said: “With today’s signing, we take our efforts even further as this project will improve operations and service delivery. We look forward to working closely with each one of you (water establishments) to improve water quality and supply and contribute to a peaceful and prosperous Lebanon that provides better essential services to its citizens.”
