Alwadi Al Akhdar, a local manufacturer of agro-industrial food, is planning to open a new factory in Hosrayel, in 2017, at which point the company will close its present facility in Dora.

The plant will produce a range of foods like hummus and baba ghannouj, halawa, tahini paste, various syrups and extracts like rose and orange blossom water, jams, pickles, and others. The production capacity of the new facility will reach 150,000 cans per day, increasing by around 60 percent.

The cost of investment in the new facility is estimated to be around $15 million. The planned size of the plot is 25,000 square meters and the total built-up area will be 10,000 m2. Pio Coussa, General Manager of Alwadi Al Akhdar, said that they are still negotiating the exact location of the land.

He said that the available production lines will be renewed and enlarged and new ones will be installed for products like pickles and rose water, which are now being packaged in other local factories.

The new facility will create around 30 jobs.
Alwadi Al Akhdar exports a large part of its production to the United States, Canada, Australia, and Europe.

The company produces around 300 products, including jams, syrups, dairy products and canned vegetables. Some products, such as corn, peas, and artichokes are packaged in Europe.
