The ‘Pan Arab News’ (PAN) daily newspaper is scheduled to start publication by coming October.

The newspaper will be published by Group Murr, which owns the Arabic local daily, Al Joumhouria. PAN will be published online and in print, according to Georges Soulage, the editor-in-chief of Al Joumhouria.

The team will include regional journalists and the newspaper will have offices in all distribution countries. “We aim to become a regional newspaper, similar to Al Hayat or Asharq Al-Awsat,” he said. Egypt and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries such as KSA, UAE, and Kuwait, are among the future markets. The newspaper will be published in some of the distribution countries to save shipping delays and costs.

Group Murr was founded in 1955 by Michel Murr. It has interests in construction, real estate, resort development, engineering, media, and technology. The Group has an asset base that exceeds $2 billion.

Al Joumhouria newspaper was founded in 1924 by Henri Asmar and was relaunched in 2011 after many years of interruption.
