Khaled Awad, Chairman of Advanced Construction Technology Services (ACTS), was recently elected as the First Vice President of the American Concrete Institute (ACI).

Awad is the first member from the Middle East to occupy this position.

The ACI, based in Michigan, USA, includes 20,000 members from around the world. It issues basic construction regulations adopted internationally in concrete and engineering design.

ACTS has been a sponsor for ACI certificates in the Middle East since 1996. It has overseen the training of more than 5,000 individuals in the MENA region.

“This position will allow me to highlight the international role the construction sector plays in the Middle East, considering the size and uniqueness of current and future projects in the region, especially in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries,” Awad said.

Awad recently founded Grenea, an investment company that develops and provides technical assistance to environmental projects across the world.
