Eco Waste, a factory that recycles rubber and plastic and produces oil derivatives opened this month, in the industrial city of Fanar.

The $1 million project will have a built-up area of 2,000 square meters. It will create around ten full time jobs. The machines required for this factory were imported from China.

The production capacity is estimated at 130 tons of recycled rubber and plastic per month. The company will produce oil derivatives, mainly fuel oil from these recycled products, to be consumed by factories.

Melhem Saklaoui, General Manager of Eco Waste, said: “There is a large demand for these products from factories. A glass factory, for instance, consumes around 30 tons of fuel oil per day.”

Saklaoui said that the company will collect plastic and rubber products from the market. He said: “It is more feasible to collect them than to purchase them from Sukleen.”
