Beekeepers will benefit from LIVCD project
Share
Around 4,300 beekeepers will benefit from the USAID-funded Lebanon Industry Value Chain Development (LIVCD) project in the coming two years.
USAID allocated $1 million to train these beekeepers and help them access markets. The project worked on enhancing the quality of honey and the productivity of beekeepers by providing them with equipment, training, and support. It also connected local beekeepers with buyers and exporters. Honey exports doubled and the number of beekeepers has increased by 14 percent.
The project also helped to establish the first queen-breeding center in the country.
Around 1,700 beekeepers have so far benefited from the LIVCD project in more than 70 villages across Lebanon.
The LIVCD project is a five-year $41.7 million USAID project to improve Lebanon’s economic prosperity.
