Al Mayyas Hospital, a general medical services center, opened in Chtaura Bekaa last week. The hospital will be managed by the IMESCO Company.

IMESCO acquired the Al Mays hospital from Al Mayyas family, which had stopped operating in 2007. Investments in rehabilitating the hospital reached $5 million.

The hospital comprises two blocks, including 120 beds. It has a total built-up area of 3,500 square meters.

Al Mayyas includes three new operating rooms, a laboratory, scanning department, palliative care center, and center for treating children.

A special floor in the hospital will be dedicated for Syrian refugees. Araji said that the hospital signed an agreement with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), which will provide 75 percent of the health coverage, where Syrians will pay 25 percent of their medical bills. It also signed an agreement with AUBMC to provide expertise.

Locals may benefit from healthcare coverage by the Ministry of Public Health, the National Social Security Fund, and other public institutions.

The hospital created around 170 jobs for nurses and administrators. Around 200 physicians will provide their services.
