The Council of Ministers approved yesterday the financing of a project to develop two U-shaped bridges in Jal el Dib. The project will cost $48 million, fully funded by the State.

The first bridge will serve traffic coming out of Jal el Dib and accessing Beirut. It will be constructed near the Bo Concept store in Antelias.

The second one will serve Jounieh commuters going to Jal el Dib and Antelias. It will be located near the Mazda showroom on the coastal road.

During morning rush hour, the southern bridge is expected to serve over 1,200 vehicles. The northern bridge will serve more than 1,400 vehicles.

Expropriation of land was made in parallel to the studies conducted by the Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR), which is overseeing the project’s implementation.

A tender is expected to take up to six months, in order to choose a contractor for the construction of the two bridges.
